Volunteer Orientation Training
All volunteers wanting to facilitate yoga classes are required to attend a Living Yoga Orientation/Teacher Training. Trainings are listed in the menu to the left. Every volunteer must complete the orientation/training process to learn more about our organization, our programs and our students. The training covers recommended curriculum, the how's and why's of teaching in an institutional setting and to special populations. Trainees will also practice teaching. In addition to our training, all prospective volunteers (regardless of yoga/teaching experience) are required to begin their service in mentorship with experienced volunteers. This will help determine your readiness to volunteer for Living Yoga. Volunteers are required to have a consistent yoga practice (at home or in classroom) and at least 2 years yoga experience. Prospective volunteers with backgrounds in social work, recovery fields or other comparable experience are also welcome to apply.
Living Yoga Orientations are limited to 25 participants.
In order to attend, you must have submitted a completed Living Yoga application (see the Volunteer page of this website) and have registered with Nancy (phone: 503-546-1269/email: nancy@living-yoga.org) Tuition for is $120: a $20 non-refundable deposit is required to register.
