Yoga Nidra, Inner Resource and Compassion

Led by: Harry Dudley, PsyD, Psychologist and Certified iRest Yoga Nidra Teacher

Enhance your teaching of trauma informed yoga and your personal practice through the synthesis of classical and iRest yoga nidra and the emerging field of compassion science to cultivate resilience and equanimity. The workshop will include didactic and experiential learning through receiving at least one sample class facilitated by Harry, and practicing your own delivery in a supportive setting.

Participants will also have access to Harry’s recordings and sample scripts.

  • Learn to include yoga nidra in your Living Yoga classes and interweave intention/inner resource throughout the class.
  • Become familiar with relevant research in psychology, neuroscience, and the emerging field of compassion science, and how to integrate compassion practices in a trauma informed yoga class.
  • Have an opportunity to practice in a supportive environment.

This workshop is open to the public. Pre-registration is required. There will be a $15 registration fee for Living Yoga volunteers. Cost is $45 for non-volunteers and $30 for partner site/studio members.

"Body Love" 

Led by: Living Yoga Trainers- Angelina Vasile and Nancy Williams

Ever wonder how cultural and internal messages impact the way we feel and talk about bodies? Join Angelina and Nancy as we explore how ideas about how body image can impact our effectiveness in the teaching role. Come with questions and ideas for creating a class that is inclusive to every body of any size, age, color, gender or ability.

  • Learn how to identify self-sabotaging thoughts and behaviors, both as teacher and as student
  • Develop simple languaging skills to encourage positive body image/acceptance
  • Gain tools for creating inclusivity in the classroom and helping all students feel successful 

This workshop is open to the public and free to active Living Yoga volunteers. Pre-registration is required. Cost is $45 for non-volunteers and $30 for partner site/studio members.

Addressing Trauma through the Biology of Breathing

Led by: Angelina Vasile

The breath is the central and most essential tool for any yoga or mindfulness practice. It has the capacity to affect our minds, chemical makeup and nervous system and therefore, our physical and emotional wellbeing.

  • Learn the main muscles and their function in conscious breathing
  • Become more familiar with how breathing affects chemical stagnancy and supports "detox" in the body and brain
  • Develop the ability to use down-regulating breath practices for working with trauma, PTSD and heightened/depressed states
