The Living Yoga Board of Directors

SARAHJOY MARSH (December 2002-present), (Board Chair) is founder, owner and director of amrita: a sanctuary for yoga, and a well-respected and highly regarded yoga instructor.  She has been teaching yoga class, yoga retreats, teacher trainings and workshops locally and nationally for 14 years.  She has trained over 100 yoga teachers.  Sarahjoy produced two yoga CDs, River of Devotion and Rooted in the Dharma, and has been published in local and national magazines.  In 1998, she started Living Yoga by volunteering as a yoga teacher twice a week at Columbia River Correctional Institution.  In 2001, Sarahjoy was recognized as volunteer of the year, an award nominated by and voted for by the inmates.  Sarahjoy holds a Masters of Arts in Transpersonal Counseling with a minor in Group Dynamics and a specialization in Art Therapy from Lesley College in Massachusetts.  In her free time, Sarahjoy enjoys digging in the garden, playing the trumpet, singing in the sauna and hiking in the ancient forest.  She has been trying to learn Spanish for international travel experiences, though her Sanskrit is still better than her Spanish.

VICKY DAVIES (January 2006-present), owns and operates Gourmet Productions— Market, Fine Foods and Catering. She has worked in the service and retail industry since 1993 where she has gained deep experience in event coordination, bookkeeping, personnel management, and establishing & maintaining operating systems. Past professional experience includes work as an independent sign maker/graphic artist, yoga teacher, varied restaurant jobs and visual merchandising. (In 1990, she received the “You are what we are famous for!” award by Neiman Marcus for her keen eye for detail and outstanding performance). In addition to serving on the Board of Living Yoga, Vicky serves as a volunteer yoga teacher at Friends of the Children. Vicky attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where she majored in language & art studies. When Vicky is not running her business or teaching yoga, she can be found creating outdoor garden art, enjoying cinema, or shopping at the local Farmer’s market.

DARYL EIGEN (January 2006-present), Daryl has spent over 30 years in business and has held a number of executive positions including Senior Vice President of the International Division of a Fortune 500 company, and CEO of three high tech venture funded enterprises. Daryl has over 25 technical and professional publications and has given numerous talks all over the world. Daryl’s background also includes the deep study of Yoga for over 10 years in India and the US. Due to his desire to be of service, Daryl has served on eight boards, three of which are non-profit organizations. Serving on the Living Yoga board represents his belief that Yoga and meditation can help all those who extend the effort. Daryl has a Ph.D. in Engineering from Northwestern University, a Masters in EE and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He is also a practicing Yoga Instructor with a 500-hour Yoga Alliance certified program from Mt. Madonna Center.  Daryl is a decorated Vietnam combat Marine. He loves to scuba dive, bicycle and travel and has visited 75 countries so far.

KATHY DAPCIC (January 2006-present) (Treasurer), is a corporate finance and accounting professional with over 22 years of experience. Kathy works as a Manager of Finance & Accounting for US Bancorp Equipment Finance, Inc. in Portland, OR. She has extensive experience in budgeting, financial analysis, accounting and money management. Kathy is a community member of Cascadia Commons Co-housing Community where she is a founding member who developed and built the 26 household community in Portland, OR. She is a volunteer for Special Olympics of Oregon events and in the past has been on the board of directors for the Dance Coalition of Oregon, a Sierra Club volunteer and an environmental activist. First introduced to yoga at age 13, she returned to the mat about 9 years ago after studying dance for many years. She is endlessly fascinated and inspired by the transformative power of movement. Kathy received her BS in Finance from Syracuse University School of Management, Syracuse NY. Kathy is a two-time marathoner and a sprint triathlete. She is an outdoor adventurer, loving all kinds of outdoor activities and travel. She has made several attempts to learn Spanish and can say that it’s a venture that’s a work in progress.

KIM HORTON (January 2007-present), is Owner of Port City Pasta Co. An Italian Deli and specialty market.  Kim has experience in all phases of small business start-up and operation: business plan development; managing daily operations; hosting special events/fundraisers, personnel, retail management, production and menu planning.  Prior to her life/career change and move to Portland, Kim was an account executive for several national manufacturers of women’s apparel. She was responsible for developing and managing a six state territory in the Southeast. Kim earned her BSBA in mgmt/marketing from Appalachain State University in1983.  Kim was active for 5 years in Lake Oswego Junior Women’s Club and participated in 3 fundraisers a year to benefit local women and children’s charities. When Kim is not slinging pasta or raising money, she enjoys yoga, gardening, cycling, hiking, and travel.

PARVINDER (P.S.) KOHLI (March 2007- present) has most recently been a Managing Member of Synectic Asset Ventures, a boutique early-stage VC fund based in Vancouver, Washington. He has over 20 years experience in corporate venture investments, new business development and general management in the Internet and Information Technology industry. He was a pioneering member of Intel Capital in the early 90s, and during his 10 years there he served as Director of Investments, Electronic Commerce Programs. He built & managed a portfolio of investments including early-stage, IPO-stage and public companies such as Verisign, Cybercash and CMGI. As General Manager of the Internet Security Division in Intel’s New Business Group, he led the development of a leading Digital Rights Management System. This group was eventually spun-out as Convera, Inc., where he was Vice President and General Manager of the Internet Security Products Division.  Prior to Intel, he was with National Semiconductor. P.S. has a Master’s in International Management from American Graduate School of International Management in Glendale, Arizona, a MBA from Panjab University and a BSEE from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India. He has served on the Board of several public and private companies. His current interests include travel, photography, yoga and the outdoors.

AMY STONE (Secretary) (April 2007-present) Through her role in community relations at lululemon athletica, Amy became involved with Living Yoga. Through their charitable giving program, lululemon was delighted to partner with Living Yoga and help raise awareness about and funding for the organization for 2007.  Her professional career also includes years of management and being self-employed.  Prior to working with lululemon, Amy worked with Oregon Athletic Clubs as Program Director and prior to that she was in management for an international student exchange company.  Amy is in her tenth year of teaching yoga.  During this time she taught as an in-house teacher at Yoga Journal magazine for three years as well as more than 20 yoga studios and fitness facilities in California, Oregon and Washington.  Amy’s yoga training includes Rodney Yee’s Advanced Studies program of more than 700 hours.  Photos of Amy practicing yoga have been shown in books, billboards and magazines including Oprah and Martha Stewart Living.  Amy is also certified as a Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist through the California College of Ayurveda.  In 2006 she was an Ambassador for lululemon athletica in Portland, Oregon. When she isn’t working, you can find Amy either playing with her five year old daughter, engaged in a yoga or dance class or outside running. She also likes to swim, travel and see films.

LESLIE BEVAN (ex-oficio), (Executive Director). After 8 months as a Board member, Leslie was hired as Living Yoga’s first part-time paid Executive Director. Before joining Living Yoga, Leslie was an Associate Dean in School of Nursing at Oregon Health and Sciences University where she held administrative responsibility for the research mission. Prior to her role as Associate Dean, Leslie served as the administrative lead for institutional compliance with regulations and ethical guidelines for the use of human and animal subjects in research, as well as overseeing the grant submission process ($250M grant portfolio) for the entire University. Leslie holds a PhD in Physiology from the University of Arizona, and has taken coursework toward an MBA (finance, accounting, management) from Portland State University. Leslie is currently a yoga student of Sarahjoy Marsh. In 2001-2002 Leslie and her partner, Julie took a personal sabbatical to travel around the world, visiting 15 countries in 54 weeks, which trumped all previous educational or personal experiences to date! In her free time, Leslie is learning to play the cello, cooking, gardening or planning her next travel adventure.
